The Humane Society for Inland Mendocino County is a non-profit adoption center, dedicated to rescuing and placing abandoned and displaced animals into loving, permanent homes. Animals who come to HSIMC and who are deemed “adoptable” – that is, healthy and non-aggressive – stay at the shelter until they are adopted. HSIMC euthanizes only those animals who are ill beyond reasonable and affordable treatment, or who present a clear threat to the public and would not be suitable for adoption.
During their stay at the shelter, animals are socialized through volunteer programs to make them more adoptable, as well as happier and more content while they await a new, permanent home. No animal of any age is allowed to leave the shelter without first being spayed or neutered, as well as vaccinated, tested for certain diseases, and other treatments deemed necessary to get them ready for their new homes.
HSIMC is not affiliated with the national chapter of the Humane Society, nor do we receive any funding from that organization. If you can, we encourage you to donate.
The Humane Society is located on 10 beautiful acres of riverfront property in Redwood Valley. We encourage visitors, so feel free to say hello.
